about

Following the superb inaugural 12” from UNLTD, Borrowed Language returns with this incendiary split release from UNLTD and label owner Israel Vines. Reclaim, a collaborative effort from Vines and UNLTD, opens the A-side in fine style; it’s a broken-beat behemoth that’s sure to find favor with those who like their techno dark and atmospheric. A robotic machine-press groove and monotone bass rumbles underpin quasi-gothic synth textures — the effect is truly mesmerizing. UNLTD’s Précis offers a gorgeous respite before the relentless EBM-tinged onslaught that is Divide; its washes of sound recall nothing so much as Zauberberg-era Gas or perhaps Thomas Köner. Vestige, an ambient offering from Vines, closes the EP with a stunning sonic excursion into subzero temperatures reminiscent of Pan Sonic or Monolake.
